The Vapor series of sticks from Bauer is all about puck handling and quick release shots. The APX 2 also places an emphasis on getting the puck to your target faster. The Intelli-Sense Flex Profile can be found throughout the line and offers dual flex zones that offer different performance benefits depending on the placement of your lower hand. The higher flex point delivers powerful slap shots and one-timers, while the lower flex point provides a quick release with accuracy and control enhancements from the Vapor Premium Dual Taper. The APX 2 is an evolution of the best attributes of the X:60 and the APX with noticeable improvements to blade feel, responsiveness and durability.
The true one-piece APX 2 is among the lightest sticks on the market. Just like top of the line Supreme and Nexus models, Bauer uses a single molding process they call Monocomp technology which allows them to remove excess material all while improving balance and performance consistency. Other shared features that are exclusive to Bauer's highest end models are TeXtreme® technology and the eLASTech resin system. TeXtreme® is a strong carbon fiber that is 20% lighter than conventional carbon, so it reduces weight in the stick without sacrificing strength. The eLASTech resin system enhances durability by adding reinforcements in the resin that help reduce the spread of micro-fractures and helps extend the life of the sticks "pop". The Micro Feel II shaft has rounded corners and double-concave walls which allows the shaft to fit comfortably into your hands, resulting in easier puck handling and superior control. The APX 2 is available in a nice matte finish, or with the Griptac finish.
Moving down the stick towards the blade is where you will find the Vapor Premium Dual Taper. This type of shaft configuration allows for quick releases and decreased torsional deflection which results in better puck control and accuracy. Blade control and accuracy are further enhanced by the Pure Shot Blade Profile, which is visible through the expanded throat.
The blade of the APX 2 is where you will find the most significant advancements with the AERO-SENSE blade core design. It has been described as more responsive with better feel than the X:60 and better feel and durability than the APX. How did they do it? Bauer uses an inter-Laminar SENSE layer that dampens vibrations upon pass reception for improved feel while increasing durability by adding protection to the edges, toe and heel of the blade. In addition, they also use a less brittle single density AERO FOAM 3 core that includes durability stitches that create superior adhesion between the core, the SENSE layer and the TeXtreme® blade wrap.
